The company is led by Thomas Skidmore former Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, President and Director of GLENTEL Inc., a multi-carrier mobile phone retailer operating 1,240 stores, 4,300+ employees and worldwide sales of CAD$1.7 billion. Thomas Skidmore was also co-owner of TCG International, an auto glass company founded by his father, Arthur Skidmore and uncle in 1946 with its first location in New Westminster, B.C. Before the company was sold in 2005, the company grew to over 1,000 retail and distribution locations under the brands, Speedy Auto Glass, Apple Auto Glass Canada, Lebeau and Autostock Distribution.
In May 2015, BCE Inc. acquired publicly traded GLENTEL Inc. (TSX:GLN) for CAD$594 million, including the Canadian retail mall locations of WIRELESSWAVE and TBooth wireless, and the wireless phone kiosks located in Costco Wholesale Canada.
The liquidation of holdings in the legacy family business, TCG International, and the sale of equity interest in GLENTEL, has enabled the growth of Skidmore Development.
